What I’ve Been Working On 5/14/13
Well it’s been three busy months since my last update here on the site. I spent most of march preparing for Joecon in Indianapolis and most of April recovering from the trip. It’s also been a really busy time of year at my day job so I haven’t been able to commit the time I’d like to my creative endeavors, but luckily summer is about here and that will change. I have been keeping up with a few project the last couple of weeks, but I don’t have much to show just yet. All I’ve got to show off right now is a logo re-build that is part of a series of logos I’m updating in vector format. This logo is an amalgamation of various logos from the COPS ‘N CROOKS toy line that Hasbro produced from 1988-1990. The multicolored badge logo is from the animated series scene cut sequences. The “‘n crooks” text is an update from the toy packaging using an off the shelf font that can be used for additional branding. Even though this logo does not look that intricate it took forever to rebuild it in Illustrator and get the shading correct. Most of the logos found on toys in the 70s, 80s, & 90s we’re painted by hand. This made the look awesome, but it also makes them hard to re-build as Vector graphics. If this was a single piece of art I probably would have painted it in Photoshop and gotten a more authentic look, but for something like a brand logo that needs to be reused over and over again at different sizes, a vector graphic just works better.
I know this isn’t much to show, but I promise I’ll have more art coming down the pipe soon. In the mean time let me know what you think of this.
