Mauler Tank Owner’s Workshop Manual
This is a quick image that I put together yesterday. I had purchased a copy of The Millennium Falcon Owner’s Workshop Manual: Star Wars by Haynes Manuals for my buddy Wade and I thought it might be cool to do something Joe related like that. Now for those of you that don’t know Haynes Manuals are after market repair manuals that you can use to do your own repair work on your car or motorcycle. At some point they started doing manuals for this like the Lunar Lander and the U.S.S. Enterprise from Star Trek as a novelty item. Being the geek that I am I could not resist working up a G.I. Joe one, and since I’m a huge fan of the Mauler tank it was an easy jump to making this.
The image of the tank is an image from one of the European comics if I’m not mistaken that I found online. I cleaned up the image and pulled all the color out. Then I found a few other images online for the cutaways. The engine comes from a Fiat of some kind, the treads are from a different tank, and the cannon is from a different cannon. I built it entirely using images that I found on line to save time because I only gave my self 3 hours to compete it from start to finish. There are two other noticeable differences that you might notice if you look closely. 1.) I used the term Main Battle Tank instead of the Mauler’s Manned Battle Tank. I thought that this text fit better in the space and described the tank better. 2.) I replace the word Haynes in the Haynes logo with Hasbro. They are the same number of letters and both start with H. They fit together with almost no adjustment of the font or the logo, I wish every typographic project was that easy.
I’m really pleased with how this turned out, and even before I’d shown it publicly I’ve already had a request for a matching H.I.S.S. Tank, so it looks like that will be the next one on my to do list. As always please leave a comment.
